One of our most cherished blessings is that of forgiveness. It does not originate with any of us but forgiveness is a spiritual attribute flowing freely from our precious Lord. We are enveloped in forgiveness; it cannot be earned nor is it a reward. Forgiveness is a form of grace, grace is Love, God is Love, and Love is God.
We have been taught if we are forgiving, we too will be forgiven. This is not what it seems. Forgiveness is not ours to give, it is God’s blessing upon his little ones. When we forgive we become channels for God’s blessing; the bridge over which grace travels from spirit to materiality. In the process, we are filled with a forgiveness that permeates every part of our lives. We cannot simply be filled with grace but we must draw upon its infinite supply in keeping with the pattern of love. This pattern is rooted in our Lord’s freely giving love to His own, and our unconditionally giving out forgiveness in a manner consistent with what we call God’s will.
Let us consider, would Infinite Love put a price on forgiveness? Would Tender Loving Kindness withhold grace from any of us? However, we must accept the gifts of the spirit in a manner consistent with the immeasurable generosity with which it is showered upon each of us. To be forgiving is not only graceful but it is one of the only ways we can instantly seize upon this blessing.
The banquet has been prepared, the table set, and the feast placed before us. If we hunger or thirst it does us little good to continue to ask our host for sustenance. We can dine on this magnificent bounty in a manner consistent with the motivation with which it was prepared for us, or we can continue to ignore its existence. If, in the presence of limitless forgiveness we continue to ask, we ignore the grace that has been freely poured out upon us.
It is true as we forgive we are forgiven but not as a reward, instead as a consequence. If we would be filled with God, we must act in a godly fashion. This does not mean we are to be perfect but we must persist. If our motives are consistent with our highest values, and our means consistent with our motives, we have need of nothing else. If we seek love, we must be loving, if we wish for grace, we must be graceful, and if we wish for forgiveness we must be forgiving.
May God bless you with an awakening to the realization that you are the forgiveness that He has sent in to this world. May this awakening serve to heal every part of your life this day.
