As the Christmas season begins, a sense of joy is awakened in each of us. Joy is an emotional response to love, and often it is our first indication that something wonderful is stirring deep within us. Joy, like love, has at its core a need to be expressed, it cannot simply be contained or it will become toxic to an aspiring soul. Love must love while joy must be joyful. We often ponder why God creates and it may very well be due in part to the fact that Love must love. This is not a duty of love, it is its nature, love is alive and loving is its life.
Our Jesus did not teach us to love, no one can do that, however he did show us what love looks like in the earth. He, our precious Lord, taught us through demonstration to use love consistently. Love pours forth from our God and envelopes His creatures. All of those upon who He has made the sun to shine are His little ones; we are the objects and expressions of eternal love. Our Prince demonstrated to us that it is our destiny to let love pour forth from each of us to freely shower upon His loved ones. In this way, when love loves those that were created from love, joy is complete. As we are moved by the spirit of the season, we who are love are inspired to pour out loving kindness upon His precious ones.
Although we can never love too much, some of us judge the way others of us express their love. The spirit of the season calls to each of us to find joy in our brother’s and sister’s expression of love toward one another, regardless of the form. Can we love without reservation, without condemnation, without disapproval of those who do not express love as we do? Can we not simply find joy in the joy of our sisters and brothers? The spirit of our Christ calls upon us at this time to simply pour out our joy upon His tender ones, and in turn to let their joy enlarge our own.
Sponsored by love, joy seeks always to express joy. Through joyful service to others our love will find a home in their hearts. It is not we who should be inspired by them, for Jesus, our Christ promised to be our inspiration. He demonstrated it is sufficient only for us to love. In keeping with the spirit of the season let us each put no obstacles in our way; let us require nothing, let us pour out our joy upon those around us, that through each of us, love may unconditionally love.
May our beloved Prince embrace you, hold you close, and awaken a tenderness in you that will culminate in indescribable joy.
